I step outside in the morning light and the entire garden is bustling with activity! The first thing I notice are the sweet sounds of the summer pollinators. Poppies in a rainbow of colors are buzzing with the song of honeybees; hummingbirds are busy hovering and humming as they sip nectar from their favorite flowers and the tiny hoverflies are singing in high-pitched tones of joy as they bury themselves "knee-deep" in cactus flower pollen! The music in the garden is lovely, especially in the morning. Breathing it all in, I delight as a pair of Swallowtail butterflies chase and spiral above my head and then, of course, I love to watch the bumblebees and carpenter bees as they land on flowers, their weight too heavy for the stems as they bend almost to the ground! What was Mother Nature thinking when she created those big bees to land and feed on such delicate flowers? It makes me laugh everytime! It's a glorious time in the garden with all its beauty and I'm grateful and honored that the pollinators have come to dine for another season...
