Over the Rainbow:A Gardener's Guide to Creating Light-Filled Gardens
This book is a spiritual gardening book. You'll find plenty of information on basic gardening techniques From there it expands into an array of informative topics such as honoring nature's cycles in the garden (i.e.; planting by the moon for instance), planting for pollinators, insights on gardening with children, various techniques for preserving your harvest, which includes about 30 garden fresh recipes and gardening in climate change. For those interested in the more spiritual aspects of gardening I've included techniques for communicating with Nature, particularly in the garden, a chapter introducing the use of flower essences (and how to make them) and a chakra balancing meditation. There's something in this book for everybody!

WHAT ARE FLOWER ESSENCES?
A Flower Essence is a vibrational remedy similar to homeopathic remedies that provides healing and balancing in a subtle, yet powerful way.
Each flower essence embodies the healing signature of the particular flower from which it was made.
Flower essences are created by placing a flower (or flowers) in a bowl of water and allowing them to sit in the sun for 3-4 hours which allows the specific healing and balancing pattern contained within the flower petals to be released into the water. The water has been "potentized" and is now ready for use.
Each flower essence embodies the healing signature of the particular flower from which it was made.

A Gem Elixir carries the specific qualities of the gemstone that is used to make the elixer (such as Rose Quartz, used to open the heart with loving energy). The gemstone is placed in a bowl of water and left in the sun for a few hours to "potentize" the water.
Environmental Essences "capture" a particular environment at the time they are made. Good examples of this are essences made on Solstice or Equinox cycles, Full or New Moon cycles or even those that capture the energies of sacred sites around the world.
Early research on flower essences was conducted in the 20th century by an English physician named Dr Edward Bach. He developed a set of 38 essences which he used to treat the underlying emotional patterns that were the cause of physical disorders and disease in his patients. One of his most popular and highly effective formulas known as "Rescue Remedy" is widely used as a first response for shock or trauma in both humans and animals.
How do these essences work?
As a vibrational remedy, essences work directly with the electrical and central nervous systems. Our bodies have within them and surrounding them, an electrical network. This network remains balanced and fully connected when we are healthy but when something interrupts that balance the electrical system responds by either short circuiting or overloading. This, in turn impacts the central nervous system, and the body goes into high gear in an effort to correct the imbalance. If it doesn't succeed then we physically manifest the imbalance through illness or through various body ailments, such as headaches, backaches or neck pain, for instance. By taking the essences that best align with our personal needs, we immediately balance the electrical system which stabilizes the nervous system and helps the body to move from a state of "dis-ease" to a state of ease and balance.

Because our gardens are our reflection, we can also use them to balance our bodies and our lives as well. To use them in the garden, hand sprinkle them or place a few drops in an open palm and ask the garden energies to take what is needed. They are quite effective this way. To balance our bodies, take a few drops under the tongue, spray a diluted mix on our bodies or place a few drops in our bathwater and let it soak in. To discern which Essence Blend is needed for you or the garden, you can use your intuition by placing your hand on your heart and "feeling" the answer, or by holding each essence to your Solar Plexus to discern if it's needed or not. A pendulum works well for this too.
